Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween from...

Halloween Week Fun

For the past week, we have had all kinds of Halloween fun.  Over the weekend we made cookie dough, cut out cookies and decorated cookies.

My little helper was so proud of her cookies.

 The more sprinkles the better.
Chesney was busy eating her cookie while I finished decorating and told me "Mommy, making cookies is hard work."
 The finished products.

We also made Halloween cards for our special grandparents (thanks Pinterest for the idea).
Of course pumpkin carving was on the agenda for Halloween week.

(If it appears that Chesney is constantly in pajamas, its because she is.  She wears clothes for limited hours of the day. I'm sure it's a crazy stage she is in.)

She decorated her little pumpkin with the drawing crayon.

 So proud of her pumpkin!

We are one excited family for Halloween and Trick or Treating!

Pumpkin Patch

We made our annual trip to Skelly's Pumpkin Patch on Sunday.  It was a cold one, but Chesney had such a blast.  I think she may have stayed warm from running around so much!  I attempted to keep up but at 7.5 months pregnant, it wasn't happening.

We started with a pancake breakfast complete with Halloween sprinkles.  I so love holiday traditions with my baby girl.

My little lady all set to hit the pumpkin patch (minus the boots, two coats, mittens and hat)!
I think she's too cute for the funny looking pumpkin bin.
She loved all the play structures, but the pirate ship was one of her favorites.

She loved driving the bus and made daddy and I jump in for a ride.
We did take a wagon ride which was lots of fun for her.

After the wagon ride, she played a little more.  She got to see some of her favorite book characters including Snoopy, Clifford, Sister and Brother Bear and the Peanuts gang.

A little play in the corn table.

She did stop for a little donut snack (and to allow mommy and daddy to warm up too).
Before we left, we let her pick out her own pumpkin.  She picked the 60 cent baby pumpkin but said it was the cutest pumpkin they had.  I guess she's a cheap date this year.  Some year she will be looking for the biggest pumpkin so I won't complain!
I think she had a blast at the pumpkin patch.  And it was only the beginning of our Halloween week festivities.

Baby # 2 - 29 Weeks

  • How far along: 29 weeks
  • Size of baby: measures about 15-16 inches — about the size of an acorn squash — and weighs over 2.5 pounds (which he was very close to when we got a peek last week during our emergency department visit).
  • Total Weight Gain: 19 pounds
  • Maternity Clothes: I wear my one pair of jeans that fits with my maternity jeans more often and dresses to work.
  • Gender: We are having a BOY!
  • Sleep: Much better since passing the kidney stone!
  • Cravings: Chocolate and anything sweet.
  • Anything making you queasy or sick?  Powder scented stuff (I can't stand powder scented deodorant) and any strong scents.
  • Best moment this week: The nursery is starting to look more complete. I made the crib skirt this week.
  • What I miss most: Sitting comfortably.
  • Symptoms: Nesting
  • What I'm looking forward to: Getting things for the nursery walls.  I want so badly to wash the baby clothes and organize the dresser...but I should probably wait another 6 weeks.
  • Movement: This little guy is moving a lot and likes to kick low which makes me feel like I have to go to the bathroom often still.  I can feel his head up by my ribs.

Rock Steady

We had a rocky start to this week to say the least.  I had what I thought was a urinary tract infection on Monday night with mild bladder type pain.  The next day at work, I ran a urine sample and it did in fact look like I had a UTI.  So I called my OB who called in some antibiotics for me.  Tuesday night however, things took a turn for the worse.  My pain got much worse and wouldn't stop.  Then it started to go into my back. I couldn't lay down or sit because the pain was so severe. By just before midnight, my pain was so severe that I was vomiting.  So, I woke Chuck up to take me to the emergency department. I was honestly worried that the infection had spread to my kidneys and that I would go into early labor.  Grandpa came over to stay with Chesney, and we were on our way.

Shortly after we got to the emergency department, my pain improved.  The doctor ordered an ultrasound of my kidneys and of the baby.  The baby is growing right on track and looked fine.  Little love bug's feet are right on top of my bladder though, so I could feel every kick along with a sharp pain.  My kidney was a different story.  The pain was in my right side, and my right kidney had enlarge due to backed up fluid (hydronephrosis), and I had kidney stones.  My earlier pain had been a passing stone!  The emergency department doctor came to give me the results and said the bad news was that kidney stones can be worse than labor, and there is no door prize at the end.  (I loved his humor!)  I have been through both now and can say that kidney stones definitely hurt.  And unlike contractions, the pain is constant.  I would prefer if my next pains were labor pains and not one of the remaining stones passing!

I saw my OB on Thursday who suggested I see urology in case the pain gets worse again.  They urologist will also checked my kidney since it is enlarged due to the current stones blocking flow from the kidney.  My OB also suggested I discuss surgery to have the stones broken up after delivery if they stay put until that time.  Although I love surprises, a kidney stone passing at any time is a surprise I would rather not get.  Here's to limited pain and stones staying put until this little guy arrives.

Sweet Shot

Today Chesney and I went to get our flu shots at.  My co-worker Emily was nice enough to give us shots followed by a little surprise.  Chesney cried a little after the shot and a few minutes later told me "that didn't hurt".

Then Emily gave Chesney a cupcake to take home. Yeah, that's right, she's spoiled.  Emily not only is a co-worker, but she is the best cupcake maker I know.  She makes so many wonderful cupcakes (ones with Oreo cookies too).

Chesney ate her cupcake as soon as she got home (yes, right before lunch, but she was a good girl getting her shot.)  She kept saying "Emily makes delicious cupcakes".

So happy we picked a cupcake day to come for our flu shots!  Thanks Emily!
