Let It Snow

We finally got our first real snow fall, and we were all ecstatic. We had 2 kids who woke up thrilled to see so much white.  They couldn't eat breakfast fast enough to get outside. After stuffing them in their snow gear, we headed outside to enjoy the fresh powder.
First snow angel of the year!

Brecken loved being outside.  He would live out there if he could (and he hasn't even seen the snow blower yet, that may be a difficult day to get him back inside).

I pulled Chesney around on the sled for a while, and then the kids decided to play on the swing set.
And then it was back to the front where Daddy was shoveling.  Chesney brought out the snow plow truck.
And Brecken had something we call a snow mower.
We finished our time outside building a fort. We had to scrape together a lot of snow to make it.
Brecken enjoyed a glass of warm milk and Chesney a glass of hot cocoa after all the outside play. Can't wait for more snow days ahead.

Applesauce

I've been meaning to make applesauce this fall and just haven't gotten around to it.  So finally this week, I got some made and canned.
My assistant, Brecken, helped me peel apples while Chesney was at school.  He ate his fair share of apple slices which is good because he refuses to eat applesauce.
Chesney was the taste tester when the applesauce was finished.  It must have been good because she ate 3 bowls. I would consider this applesauce success.

Brecken {21 Months Old}

Brecken is 21 months old.
Here is what you have been up to over the past busy month:
Played in the sand and gravel.
Went for a ride in a digger.
Checked out a tractor.
Had your first dentist appointment with healthy teeth (9-18-2014).
Dressed yourself. The sideways hat and rain boots make me think you may not ready for dressing yourself yet.
Hung out with cousins.
Got spoiled by Grammy.
Took selfies with Daddy.
And took a trip to Disney with the family!

Brecken's 21 month stats:
  • Weight: 21 lbs (I guess being strapped in a stroller for a week straight at Disney helped!)
  • Length:  31.5 inches
  • Clothes: You are wearing 12-18 month bottoms and shirts. You are wearing your 12 and 18 month sleepers.
  • Shoes: You wear a size 4 shoe.
  • Diapers: Cloth diapers with Pampers (size 3) at night.  You go on the potty 2-3 times a day and are usually dry after naps.
  • Food: You are eating a little better, usually eating for meals if you don't graze all day. You wake up hungry every morning.  You are drinking whole milk and water.
  • Development:  You are really into diggers.  You have a digger DVD with all different equipment that you watch nearly daily.  You have a mean golf and baseball swing. Pretty much everything you can hold becomes a golf club, spatulas, shovels and toys.  You love sports and being outside.
  • Words: You say a handful of words that others can understand and more that we can understand.
  • Teeth: You got your 15th tooth, your lower right canine. First dental check-up (9-18-2014)
  • Sleep:  You go to bed around 7:00 pm and wake up at 7 am. We have to get you up at 7 everyday now because we have to get Chesney to school.  No more sleeping in for you.  You take a 1.5 hour morning and afternoon nap.  Your morning nap is around 9 and afternoon around 1.
  • What I love about you: You are so full of energy and happiness.  You are almost always happy and if you get mad, it only lasts a few seconds. You click your tongue when you want a kiss from us or when you give someone else a kiss.
Happy 21 months baby boy! Love you so much!!

Happy Halloween 2014

We had such a wonderful Halloween.  We started on Halloween Eve with pumpkin carving.  The kids helped take the top off the pumpkin and clean out all the gooey seeds.
When Daddy got home, they helped carve the pumpkin while they painted mini pumpkins.

Chesney picked Elsa for the pumpkin design.  And it turned out wonderful.

If you ask Brecken to smile these days, you get the look below. He's a goofball. (I think Grampy makes a similar face).
 The final product!
After pumpkin carving we had a snack and watched It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
Halloween morning called for pumpkin and ghost pancakes.

After work we continued the Halloween tradition and ordered pizza.  Chesney insisted on eating pizza by the front door, just in case any trick or treaters came.  Luckily we finished before trick or treating started.
Chesney was ready to hand out candy. The special wand came in the mail from Grammy and Grampy along with some candy. Thanks guys!
After she handed out some candy, Chesney decided to get ready to go out trick or treating.
Chesney was Elsa and Brecken was a turtle.

I took the kids out trick or treating while Daddy handed out candy.  I had to get my ladybug costume out because it makes Chesney super happy.
After handing out and eating lots of treats, we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to show them the costumes and see Great Grandpa.  The kids got a few Halloween gifts/treats that they loved.

The kiddos were beat by the time we got home.  Halloween was lots of fun with lots of treats.
Happy Halloween from our family to yours!
