Brecken's Birth Story

Since Brecken was overdue, we scheduled an induction for Tuesday, January 15, 2013.  We arrived at the hospital at 6 am ready to meet our little boy.
Waiting for to start the Pitocin which was started at about 7:40 am.  My doctor asked the nurse if she thought we could have a baby by 1 pm.  Challenge accepted!

Contractions slowly intensified as we paced the halls for a couple hours.  At 11:30 am I was only dilated to 3 but the contractions were picking up so I decided to get an epidural.  It looked like the 1 pm mark was out of the question.

About 30-45 minutes after getting the epidural, I was completely dilated and ready to push.  Talk about moving fast!  My doctor just happened to swing by when the nurse was checking and ran to get his scrubs on.  The room was not set to deliver so the nurse called back-up, and they hustled to get ready.  Brecken arrived with one push at 1:08 pm.
I was in love the second I saw my baby boy's precious face.

He was measured, weighed and cleaned before coming back to my arms to warm up.
 His first foot prints!

Not long after he was born, the nurse gave Brecken a bath.  From there out, it was all snuggling with our little boy and falling deeper in love.

Brecken's birth was such an amazing adventure and way quicker than expected.  For making us wait so long to meet him, he flew into the world on his birthday and immediately stole our hearts.   We love you sweet Brecken!

Baby #2 - 40 Weeks

  • How far along: 40 weeks
  • Size of baby: measures about 19-21 inches — about the size of a pumpkin and weighs 6-9 pounds
  • Total Weight Gain: 30 pounds
  • Maternity Clothes: Mainly maternity jeans with tops. I have given up on wearing dresses to work now and wear maternity dress pants and sweaters.
  • Gender: We are having a BOY!
  • Sleep: It is hard to find a comfortable spot to sleep, but once I fall asleep, I sleep well.
  • Cravings: Chocolate and anything sweet.
  • Anything making you queasy or sick?  Powder scented stuff (I can't stand powder scented deodorant)
  • Best moment this week: Spending lots of time with Chesney.
  • What I miss most: Rolling which ever way I please in bed.
  • Symptoms: Nesting.  Contractions - false labor.
  • What I'm looking forward to: Meeting this little guy this week! It is hard to believe we are going to finally hold him in our arms.
  • Movement: Less movement (probably less room).  Still lots of hiccups.

The Waiting Game

We are still waiting for baby boy to join us.  But we have found ways to keep busy and pass the time.  We have spent a lot of time with our little lady. Tonight we had a pizza party picnic in the living room. Chesney gets the biggest kick out of little things like this.
And I've been busy sewing some holiday clothes for my little girl.  A few Valentine and one Easter piece.

Chesney calls these skirts her rock star skirts.  She loves to run around in these skirts and do a cute "rock star dance."  Every time she is wearing one she tells me over and over "thanks for making me this rock star skirt mommy."  That little girl melts my heart.

Our days of one kiddo are limited, and we are loving on her as much as we can but are so excited to welcome her baby brother.

Baby #2 - 39 Weeks

  • How far along: 39 weeks
  • Size of baby: measures about 19-21 inches — about the size of a watermelon and weighs 6-9 pounds
  • Total Weight Gain: 31 pounds
  • Maternity Clothes: Mainly dresses and maternity jeans with tops.  My work dresses are quickly becoming too small now.
  • Gender: We are having a BOY!
  • Sleep: Waking up a lot at night with contractions (which never last longer than a few hours) and to go to the bathroom
  • Cravings: Chocolate and anything sweet.
  • Anything making you queasy or sick?  Powder scented stuff (I can't stand powder scented deodorant)
  • Best moment this week: Enjoying our little girl and anticipating the arrival of our little guy!
  • What I miss most: Nothing at this point.  I'm feeling great.  Although I'm not so great at playing hide and seek anymore.  I tried to hide behind a wall the other day and my belly stuck out (Chesney found me right away).  Then I tried to hide behind a door, and the door was half closed by the time I squeezed behind it (dead giveaway).
  • Symptoms: Nesting.  Contractions - false labor.
  • What I'm looking forward to: Meeting this little guy! I can't believe we have made it to 39 weeks (thanks to little man being breech for so long).
  • Movement: Less movement (probably less room).  He is getting the hiccups more often now.

Chesney Homemaker

Chesney has recently started using her kitchen a lot.  She loves to pretend she is making lunch and usually comes up with some interestingly named soup she is making.
I love to listen to her when she is pretending to cook because she adds "one cup of flour" and "two eggs".  I guess she is listening when she is helping me in the kitchen.

She got this iron for Christmas and likes to iron her doll clothes...
 And doll shoes too.

Kickin' it with Daddy

Our last weekend was relaxing, aside from wondering when baby boy is going to arrive.  We were able to get a lot of organizing done in the basement, took all the Christmas decorations down and put out all the snowman decor.
Evidence of our relaxing weekend...Daddy and Chesney kicking back with a berry smoothie.
