Chesney has hit the 3 week mark from her fracture and was able to return to the doctor today to have her cast removed. She was having a hard time keeping the cast dry. Last week she played in the kiddie pool.
Her cast was dripping wet when she was done (shhh, don't tell the ortho doc).
One last picture with her cast before she went to have it removed.
She got lots of signatures including Grandma, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Aunt Tanya, Uncle Jon, Emma, Mommy, Daddy, Brecken. And even a Bailey paw print.
Little Brecken decided to stop for a few minutes to take a picture with Chesney.
At the doctor's office, they removed the cast first and then took x-rays. She wasn't even scared of the saw.
They had to cut both sides.
And then pry it apart.
And finally they cut the padding.
Free at last!
The cast is now a decorative piece on Chesney's dresser.
I love the smirk you can see on her face in the picture below. She was so happy to see her arm. The x-ray showed good callus formation (healing).
Dr. Angeline told her she had to continue to be careful. About 2 minutes later, while he was still in the room, Chesney looks at me and says "When we get home I'm riding my two wheel bike to the park." The doc thought that was pretty funny but told her she better wait for a little while longer. She sure does miss that bike though. On Sunday I saw her by her bike in the garage. When I got close to her I heard her saying "I miss you bike". And then she asked if she could just sit on it.
We told Chesney we would have a Cast Off party for her tonight. We had tacos for dinner, and she picked out this rainbow mousse.
This is her new brace which she has to wear for another 3 weeks. She is already making me nervous because she has more range of motion with this than she did with her cast.
Here's to hoping we can keep her away from her bike for another 3 weeks!
